What made you decide to take part in the marathon?
I completed my first Melbourne Marathon in 2012 and since then I have had a passion for the training and race itself. After completing my first marathon, I made the decision to complete 10 Melbourne Marathons. It’s 3 months of hard work and dedication to my training and my body, challenging my body and mind and getting fitter and stronger.
Which Marathon have you chosen to participate in?
Melbourne Marathon 15th Oct 2017. 42.2km
What kind of training is involved with a marathon like this?
3 months of endurance training and strength training. Four runs per week, which consists of a long run, intervals and tempo runs. Building up from 12km to 40km runs over the course of the 3 months.
What is your number one tip for persevering through such a challenge, like a marathon?
Consistency and making good habits. Training for a 3-4 hour event takes its toll on the body. So a structured plan for strength and conditioning, supported by healthy nutrition and lots of treatments, help to keep my mind and body in top shape.
